The teachers of Sacred Tribe Dance Studios aim to provide students with a fun, energetic and well structured class while encouraging everyone to reach their full potential. We acknowledge and appreciate that everyone dances for different reasons, and aim to support the goals of all students whether it is to perform or to just get fit!
Artistic Director and Teacher: Acushla Mkrtschjan Acushla began learning Eqyptian belly dance and now focuses on ATS and Tribal Fusion. She has learnt from master ATS teachers and performers (Carolena Nerricio, Paulette Rees Denis, and Rachel Brice) and continues her training with other teachers. She continues to travel interstate to attend workshops, and to connect with other tribal dancers in Australia. She currently studies yoga and Indian dance (Bharatnatyam) with Shakti. The wholistic approach to Acushla's classes have been inspired through her studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture). She is a practising acupuncturist and shows this influence through emphasis being placed on the importance of energy flow in the body and how it affects dance movements and general well being.
Teacher of Basics One and Basics Two: Evangeline Feary Evangeline has an extensive background in classical ballet and now having discovered American Tribal Style never looks back. Her interest in energy medicine has led her to study a variety of healing modalities with a focus on myofacial release and craniosacral therapy. Evangeline also co-runs a woman's sacred circle. She has a post graduate in Visual Art, majoring in painting and is currently a practising artist. Her eye for colour and design is reflected in the beautiful tribal costuming she has made for several tribal dance students. She has attained accreditation in the Sacred Tribal teacher training course and continues to develop her dancing skills. Her passion for American Tribal Style Belly Dance is fueled by the "strong, grounded unapolagetic essence of the dance".
Teacher of Basics One: Louise Wegener Louise has a bachelor of education majoring in music and drama. She initially studied traditional bellydance for a number of years, until her career led her to live and teach overseas- predominantly in Asia. During her time overseas Louise was fortunate to train with a variety of dance teachers and performers. Through her travels to Egypt, Indonesia and Singapore, Louise studied various styles such as Balinese, Traditional Belly Dance, Flamenco and Orang Asli. Upon her return to Australia, Louise followed her passion for dance and discovered American Tribal Style Belly dance. She has since attained accreditation in the Sacred Tribal teacher training course for Basics 1 and now predominantly focuses on this dance form alone.
